  • Bio The Golden Age Mandolins is an instrumental quintet made up of historian Jim Feroe (first mandolin), Mike Russell (2nd mandolin), Joy Caney (mandola ), Alan Jacobson (mando-cello), and Phil Hansen (guitar). Jim, Mike, joy, and Alan have been playing together since the mid-sixties when Jim founded the Seattle Mandolin Orchestra . The quintet is directed by Alan and together they play a wide variety of music from the early 1900s up through the 1940s including classical mandolin arrangements of Ragtime, Swing, Jazz, Show Tunes, Standards, Tangos, Italian, Greek, Spanish, and even Russian Material.
